We’ve all read tales of faraway lands, distant cultures and awe-inspiring adventures. Muslim Hands is organising its 9th expedition to Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania from 5 – 15 December 2018. Sponsored trekkers will be combining the challenge of climbing the highest free-standing mountain in the world raising funds for FOOD4KIDS – Helping feed orphan and needy children around the world. Rising almost 20 000 feet, Kilimanjaro is the tallest mountain in Africa and has been nicknamed ‘the roof of Africa’. Mount Kilimanjaro is now listed as a world heritage site and thousands of tourists flock each year to climb the mountain. In August 2017, 24 participants from South Africa and 6 from the UK, totalling 30 embarked on the journey of climbing Mount Kilimanjaro. The challenge took place over 10 days from 02 August – 12 August 2017. The hike began on the 3rd of August 2017. All 30 participants were eager to embark on the trek. The ventured out and reached the first hut in just over 6 hours. On the second day, participants started to feel the effects of the high altitude after a 15km walk to the second hut, Horombo Hut. The weather played an integral part of the trek but thankfully all participants managed to successfully climb Mount Kilimanjaro and after the 5th day all participants prepared for their final descent. On the final day, participants visited the Muslim Hands project at Chekereni and were able to see the exceptional work being carried out by Muslim Hands Are you brave enough to take on Africa’s highest mountain and help feed orphans and needy children worldwide? By taking part you can help us reach more children suffering from hunger-related illnesses and ensure they stay strong and healthy through their daily lives.

It was a pleasure to spend the morning with the learners and staff of Norman Henshilwood High School today. The school raises money every year and chooses a worthy cause to donate the funds towards. This year, they chose to ease the conditions experienced by our Brothers and Sisters in Palestine and Syria, and selected Muslim Hands as a beneficiary to help ensure that the funds reach Palestinian and Syrian families in need. Muslim Hands would like to deeply thank everyone at Norman Henshilwood for their generous donation of R16,000. May the Almighty reward you for your efforts and may you grow and prosper in all that you do!
The Muslim Hands SA & UK team is in Hatay (a Turkish city on the Syrian border). Alhamdulillah, your aid is reaching Syrian refugees as you're reading this. 😊 Did you hear the sounds of joy on VOC from hundreds of excited Syrian children who were on air with MJC president Shaykh Irafaan Abrahams today? They thanked South Africans for supporting the Muslim Hands Big Aid convoy. Shaykh Irafaan Abrahams has joined Muslim Hands on the Big Aid convoy to the Syria-Turkey border, where the relief aid is being distributed to refugees at a camp in Reyhanli. #bigaidconvoy2018 #satosyria
What an awesome experience this past weekend, SubhanAllah! Our Winter Zipline Adventures with SA Forest Adventures was filled with adrenaline and fun, and we got to experience one of Africa's longest and highest Zipline tours. 😄 Funds raised from the event will go towards our Ubushushu Winter Campaign and will assist families in need by providing blankets and warm meals this winter. #MuslimHandsSa #zipliningforcharity
