Who Must Pay The Fidyah - 1 Day?

When a person has either become extremely weak due to old age, or they are suffering from an illness that prevents them from fasting, they are required to pay Fidyah (if they have the means).

This payment is used to feed a person in need of two meals for the day. We recommend a donation of R33 per missed fast.

Who Must Pay The Kaffarah?

If a fast is broken intentionally and without a valid reason, the individual must fast consecutively for 60 days. If this is not possible, they are required to pay (R4,800) Kaffarah (expiation).

Kaffarah provides two meals each to 60 people in need.

For further advice on Kaffarah, contact your local judiciary body.
