Stories of Strength: How Motherkind Clinics are Empowering Women Around the World

Muslim Hands

The stark reality remains: many women continue to die during pregnancy and childbirth, not because of fate, but due to a lack of accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the overwhelming majority of maternal deaths, 99% occur in developing countries, where complications in pregnancy and childbirth often become fatal simply because the necessary healthcare is not available.

A Simple Solution: Better, More Accessible Healthcare

The solution to this crisis is clear and straightforward: improve and expand access to quality healthcare. This means providing adequate resources, skilled doctors, nurses, and midwives, and implementing comprehensive healthcare programs that address the full spectrum of needs for women and their children during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period.

Motherkind: Putting Mothers and Children at the Center of Healthcare

Motherkind, a project by Muslim Hands, is committed to delivering this high standard of care in the areas of Africa where it is most needed.

Here’s how our Motherkind clinics are making a profound impact:

Addressing Nutritional Challenges

Our clinics are tackling nutritional issues in three key ways:

Nutrition Screenings: We conduct screenings for all children who visit our clinics. Severely malnourished children are referred to specialized health centers for comprehensive nutrition rehabilitation.

Micronutrient Support: To combat and prevent micronutrient deficiencies, we provide essential supplements, including iron and folic acid, to pregnant and lactating women and young children.

Educational Workshops: We hold regular sessions to educate local women about good dietary practices. These workshops cover the basics of balanced diets, the importance of nutrition, and how to use locally available ingredients to meet their nutritional needs.
