Muslim Hands, Makro & VOC Feed the Hungry

Muslim Hands

This Ramadan, Muslim Hands, Makro and the Voice of the Cape Radio (VOC) joined hands for the third time for our Feed the Hungry fitrah campaign.

The campaign was launched on 15 May and ran until 12 June. It allowed Makro customers to purchase non-perishable food items from the list provided in-store and drop it off at the collection point in the Ottery store. A Muslim Hands staff representative was on-hand to collect the items donated.

The official handover of the items took place on 12 June at Makro Ottery. All donated grocery items amounted to a total of R15,000, and these were packaged and delivered by the Muslim Hands team and volunteers to reach more than 400 recipients in need. Some of the food items included fish oil, baked beans, jam, milk, sugar, flour peanut butter, chips, coffee, Nurific, tea and maize meal, among others.
