The Impact of your donations in Kwa-Zulu Natal

Aisha Adam

This year has been extremely tough for all of us as we face the negative impact of the pandemic on our economy. But for the poor, the situation only worsened as more people were unemployed and left without income and food.

Alhamdulillah, through your generosity, Muslim Hands acted to assist the poor and vulnerable across Kwa-Zulu Natal and through your donations, we assisted families in various areas. Here is a summary of our key achievements in Kwa-Zulu Natal this year:

1. Distributed Stationery Packs and uniforms at Al-Ansaar Foundation

The Al-Ansaar foundation focuses on providing quality Islamic education to children from low to no income backgrounds and also cater for children with special needs. Due to the increasingly high rates of unemployment in the province, many parents are unable to afford basic essentials such as food for their families, and affording stationery and uniforms for their children is a rare novelty.

As such, through your donations, Muslim Hands distributed stationery packs and uniforms to assist these children and better their learning experience.

2. Installed a computer lab at Al-Huda Educational Institute

Al Huda is a mainstream school catering for learners from Grade RR to Grade 6. Majority of the learners attending the school require financial aid and the center lacked funding to install a computer lab for students to develop computer literacy skills.

Alhamdulillah, through your support, Muslim Hands installed a computer lab at the center, which will allow young learners to acquire new skills, and also provide access to computer facilities to low-income parents and the rest of the surrounding community.

3. Installed a computer lab at Anjuman Islamic Center

This Islamic Center has an orphanage that caters to over 100 children and provides them with an education from Grade RR to Matric. Due to their monthly costs, the orphanage was struggling to afford a computer lab for the children but Alhamdulillah, through the generosity of the donors, Muslim Hands made this possible. Brand new computers were installed at the center, ensuring children can learn new skills and develop themselves.

4. Distributed 400 Food hampers to Phoenix community

Ever since the riots, the people of Phoenix have been in severe distress as many individuals lost their jobs and families are struggling to make ends meet.

Alhamdulillah, through your donations, Muslim Hands distributed 400 food hampers to suffering families in the area, ensuring there are provided with basic food essentials that will last them for a month.

5. Installed a computer lab and distributed stationery packs at As-Salaam Educational Institute

The center provides free education to children from rural areas and caters for children from Grade RR to matric. Many of the children attending the school come from no-income backgrounds and the school caters for their stationery requirements.

As such, Muslim Hands donated stationery packs to assist the children and installed a computer lab at the school so children can further their learning experience.

SubhanAllah, your donations have done wonders this year in Kwa-Zulu Natal. Taqabbal allahu minna wa minkum [May Allah accept (good deeds) from you and from us].

Insha Allah, we aim on expanding on these projects and assisting more children and families in need across South Africa in the new year, and your donations will make all the difference!
