Essential Duas for Ramadan

Aisha Adam

Dua is an incredible means of communicating to Allah SWT. Almighty Allah says in the Noble Quran:

“When my servants ask you concerning me, [tell them] I am indeed close [to them]. I listen to the prayer of every supplicant when he calls on me.” [Quran 2:186]

The reward of every good deed performed during Ramadan is multiplied ten times, up to 700 times and as such, we should strive to increase our scale of good deeds by reciting the Duas for every action we perform during the blessed month.

Here is a list of essential duas to recite during Ramadan:

1. Dua for Sehri

Transliteration: Wa bisawmi ghadinn nawaiytu min shahri ramadan.

Translation: I intend to keep the fast for tomorrow in the month of Ramadan.

2. Dua for Iftar (Breaking fast)

Transliteration: Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa alayka tawakkaltu wa ala rizq-ika-aftartu

Translation: O Allah! I fasted for You and I believe in You and I put my trust in You and I break my fast with Your sustenance

3. Dua to recite during the days of mercy [1st Ashra]

Transliteration: Wa qu-rabbigh fir warham wa anta khairur raahimeen

Translation: say, “My Lord, forgive and have mercy, and You are the best of the merciful.” [Quran 23:118]

4. Dua for asking forgiveness [2nd Ashra]

Transliteration: Astaghfirullaaha Rabbi min kulli dhambin wa atoobo ilaih.

Translation: I seek forgiveness from Allah for all my sins and turn to Him.

5. Dua to recite during last ten days [3rd Ashra]

Transliteration: Allahumma ajirni minan naar

Translation: O Allah, save me from the fire (Jahannam).

6. Dua for Laylatul Qadr

Transliteration: Allahumma innaka aafuwun tuhibul aaffwa aafu aanni

Translation: Oh Allah! You are most forgiving, you love to forgive, so forgive me.

May Allah SWT accept our Ibadah, and shower His endless mercy and blessings upon us, Ameen.
