Muslim Hands South Africa Commemorates Mandela Day with Action
This Mandela Day, the spirit of unity and service came alive at Muslim Hands South Africa as our team joined hands to make 670 sandwiches - a heartfelt effort to feed those in need. But it was more than just a charitable act; it was a team-building experience that brought our staff together with a shared purpose: to serve.
Preparing, packing, and distributing hundreds of sandwiches wasn’t just a logistical task - it was a moment of connection, laughter, and reflection. Staff worked side by side, reminding us that the strength of our organisation lies in our people, and in our willingness to stand together for the most vulnerable in our communities.
Mandela Day is a call to action for every South African to devote 67 minutes of their time in honour of Nelson Mandela’s 67 years of service to humanity. At Muslim Hands, this day resonates deeply with our mission—and this year, our staff stepped up in a big way.
In addition to the 670 sandwiches, our team also distributed 67 warm blankets – offering comfort to those facing the harsh winter cold.
These actions weren’t random or routine. They were intentional acts of mercy, echoing Madiba’s legacy of justice, dignity and selfless service. Through these meaningful contributions, we paid tribute to his life.
Mandela Day reminds us that service isn’t just something we do - it’s part of who we are. And on this special day, we got to live that out loud.
“What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived. It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.” – Nelson Mandela
