Thank You for Making Eid al-Adha Special in South Africa

Muslim Hands

As the blessed days of Eid al-Adha came to a close, we are filled with deep gratitude—for your generosity, your compassion, and your unwavering commitment to serving those in need.

Thanks to your support, hundreds of families across South Africa were able to celebrate Eid al-Adha with dignity and joy, sharing in the blessing of a meal that included fresh Qurbani meat—something many of them only experience once a year.

Western Cape: Touching Lives with Care

In the Western Cape, 102 meat buckets were distributed to families in need, impacting the lives of over 500 individuals. These beneficiaries included pensioners, single mothers, people living with disabilities, and even child-headed households. The distribution took place at two key community centres: the Institute of Sharia Studies and Al Waagah. With the help of local masjids and institutes, the process was dignified, respectful, and filled with the spirit of community.

Gauteng: Feeding Hope in Urban Spaces

In Gauteng, your support reached 150 families in densely populated informal settlements—areas often hit hardest by economic hardship. Approximately 750 individuals benefitted from the Qurbani distribution. Working alongside masjids and local NGOs, the team ensured that families facing urban food insecurity received not only sustenance, but also a sense of being remembered and cared for.

Limpopo (Chuenespoort): A First of Many Blessings

This year marked a significant milestone: the first Qurbani distribution in the remote Chuenespoort region of Limpopo. A total of 275 meat buckets, each accompanied by rice, reached about 1,375 individuals in rural communities. In addition, 225 more families received bags of rice as supplementary aid. The distribution, carried out on Eids day itself, was a collaborative effort with local ulama and masjids, ensuring both spiritual guidance and community involvement. For many, this was the only opportunity in the year to enjoy a meal with meat.

In Total: 2,635 Lives Touched

Across the three provinces—Western Cape, Gauteng, and Limpopo—a total of 115 animals were sacrificed in accordance with Islamic and legal guidelines. In turn, 527 meat buckets were distributed, reaching 2,635 individuals with the blessing of Qurbani.

From all of us, and from the thousands of grateful families you helped feed—thank you. May your generosity be returned to you in countless ways, and may your Qurbani be accepted, amin.
